Bukidnon’s provincial government on Thursday handed over the last batch of the PHP16 million worth of handheld two-way communication radios, completing its distribution to the remaining 127 of 474 barangays.

During a ceremony, Governor Rogelio Neil Roque said Thursday’s distribution is the fifth and final batch, with each barangay receiving 10 radios to upgrade its communications system.

“These 1,270 units of radios complete the 474 barangays that we have distributed,” he said.

Vice Governor Clive Quiño said the new radio units would improve disaster response and peace and order monitoring at the barangay level.

Louie John “LG” Naiz, barangay chairperson of Mailag, Valencia City, said the handheld radios are a big help for barangays that have difficulty in purchasing a set because of limited budget allocations. (PNA)
