This city will host the 33rd Senior Officials’ Meeting and 28th Ministerial Meeting of the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area from Tuesday to Thursday this week.

Mindanao Development Authority Secretary Leo Tereso Magno said the gathering will bring together officials and private sector stakeholders to review progress and provide strategic direction for the BIMP-EAGA Vision 2035.

The event will also discuss challenges in implementing initiatives and strategic directions for priority programs.

Representing the Philippines as Signing Minister, Magno emphasized Mindanao’s readiness to connect, collaborate, and lead.

“We are not just showcasing products here—we are demonstrating capacity, confidence, and commitment to regional development,” Magno added.

He reiterated the Philippines’ commitment to strengthening BIMP-EAGA cooperation, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to position Mindanao as a key driver of regional integration.

As a prelude to the ministerial meetings, the BIMP-EAGA Trade and Tourism Fair opens Sunday afternoon, running until Nov. 11. (PNA)
