The local government unit here began making payouts to village workers composed of barangay tanod (watchmen), barangay health workers (BHW) and members of the Lupon Tagapamayapa.

Mayor Aida Macalinao said on Wednesday each barangay tanod and BHW is given a quarterly allowance of PHP2,000 while members of the Lupon receive PHP500 each.

She said the municipal government released the fund in time for the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the province from Aug. 8-22.

The granting of allowance was passed and approved by the Sangguniang Bayan (SB).

Two SB members, Amy dela Rosa and Glenn Velasco, were present in the payout on Tuesday in Barangay Sta. Lucia where they were welcomed by village chair Hector Forbes and the councilmen.

Macalinao, meanwhile, thanked Governor Albert Garcia for sending 25 kilo-bags of rice for 12,000 families.

The mayor said she will request for additional rice allocation so that all households in 14 barangays would be given.

She said the municipal government is also preparing relief goods for distribution to tricycle drivers and other residents badly affected by the ECQ.

Macalinao said First District Representative Geraldine Roman also sent 200 sacks of rice that they will give to persons with disabilities, single parents, and tricycle and jeepney drivers. (PNA)
