The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MILG-BARMM) will build town halls and legislative buildings in five towns in Maguindanao.

The undertaking aims to enhance the delivery of government services to the public, said Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo, MILG-BARMM minister, during the signing of a memorandum of agreement with town mayors of Talayan, Kabuntalan, South Upi, Datu Blah Sinsuat, and Sultan Kudarat on Jan 21.

“The funding for these projects are from the local government facilities development program of the Office of Chief Minister in coordination with the MILG,” Sinarimbo said.

The structures, Sinarimbo added, will build the foundation of cooperation of the regional government and towns in Maguindanao.

“That hope is founded on our unwavering belief that the cooperation between the LGUs and the regional government would result in better services for our people,” he said.

BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim, better known as Al-Hajj Murad Ebrahim, said the BARMM government will continue to develop programs and projects, especially infrastructure, that will be implemented in every town across the region.

“We have already prepared a line-up for all projects of various offices, that is why we seek for extension of the transition period,” he said.

BARMM officials earlier requested Malacañang and Congress to extend the end of the transition period of the region from 2022 to 2025.

Last month, MILG-BARMM forged an agreement with the town mayors of Sultan Dumalondong, Butig, Poona Bayabao, and Lumbaca Unayan in Lanao del Sur, and Pandag in Maguindanao for the construction of two-storey town hall buildings in their respective areas. (PNA)
