The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has tallied a 90.9 percent recovery rate from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Dr. Bashary Latiph, BARMM’s health minister said the percentage represents 8,167 recoveries from the 8,980 total Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic in March last year.

“We just did what we had to do to save lives with the guidance of the national government through the Department of Health,” Latiph said here Thursday.

As of Wednesday night, Latiph said the region tallied 36 recoveries, 24 of which are from Cotabato City, trailed by Maguindanao with eight, Sulu, 3, and Lanao del Sur, 1.

On the same day, 16 new cases were also recorded with Cotabato City having six; Maguindanao, 5; Lanao del Sur, 4; and Basilan, 1.

Active cases are at 469 with Cotabato City on top of the list with 222; Maguindanao, 140; Lanao del Sur, 81; Basilan, 15; Sulu, 10; and Tawi-Tawi, 1.
