The number of recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 continues to increase in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) with a 92-percent recovery rate posted as of Tuesday night.

Dr. Bashary Latiph, BARMM health minister, said Wednesday the region has logged 8,319 recoveries out of the total 9,088 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic in March last year.

In the last two days alone, the region recorded a 90-percent recovery rate, which is considered a high mark compared to other areas in the country.

“Even a small increase in the percentage of recoveries of patients in the region means a lot to us,” Latiph told reporters here in an interview.

Tuesday’s data provided by the Ministry of Health–BARMM showed 24 new recoveries — 20 in this city and four in Lanao del Sur.

However, nine new cases were tallied in the region on the same day — four in this city, three in Lanao del Sur, and two in Tawi-Tawi.

Meanwhile, the active cases stand at 419 with Cotabato City having the most number at 163; Maguindanao, 149; Lanao del Sur, 90; Sulu, eight; Basilan, six; and Tawi-Tawi, three.

The MOH-BARMM also recorded three new deaths, with this city having two, and Maguindanao, one, raising the Covid-19 death toll to 250. (PNA)
