The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region inaugurated its first dialysis center in Lanao del Sur on Tuesday, a milestone for health care in Muslim Mindanao.

“This is a realization of a dream come true, a pride of the Bangsamoro region,” Ministry of Health of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MOH-BARMM) Minister Dr. Kadil Sinolinding Jr. said during the opening of the 10-machine facility at the Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Jr. Al-Haj Memorial Hospital (DSBMMH) in Malabang.

The center, part of the Health Facility Enhancement Program, features advanced dialysis equipment alongside new units for stroke care, microbiology, and public health.

“Patients facing kidney issues now have access to these services right in the heart of the community,” Sinolinding added.

Hospital chief Dr. Hanipah Madale-Montañer credited PhilHealth and the BARMM leadership for supporting the upgrade of the 150-bed Level 1 hospital, which began as a 10-bed emergency facility in 1981.

In March, the MOH-BARMM transferred PHP62.1 million worth of medical assets to government health facilities across the region.

These included ambulances and medical assistance grants to the medical facilities. (PNA)
