The city government here is set to turn over more housing units under the Pambansang Pabahay Para Sa Pilipino (4PH) Program by the end of March after handing over the keys to an initial 46 buyer-beneficiaries last January.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said on Tuesday they are targeting a monthly takeout of units at the Asenso Yuhum Residences in Barangay Vista Alegre, although he did not specify the exact number of housing units to be turned over next.

“We’re one of the first local government units to implement the 4PH. We already have takeouts in our first building. The challenge now is how to accelerate the production of other 4PH units and at the same time, the turn-over to the beneficiaries,” he said in an interview.

The 46 occupants of Building 1 are among the first group of 296 buyer-beneficiaries whose home ownership applications were approved by the Home Mutual Development Fund, also known as Pag-IBIG.

Last week, the city government received an Excellence Award from Pag-IBIG Fund for its strong support to the 4PH, reaffirming its commitment to expanding homeownership opportunities.

Bacolod Housing Authority head Victoria Parreñas accepted the award on behalf of the city, along with the representatives of Sheirman Group, the city’s joint venture partner in implementing 4PH housing projects, during the Pag-IBIG Fund Chairman’s Report 2024 held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

“We welcome the recognition of the city’s continued efforts to provide affordable and sustainable housing for every Bacolodnon,” Benitez said.

The city government signed an agreement with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development in 2023 to implement the 4PH, the flagship shelter program of the Marcos administration.

Subsequently, it entered into a joint venture agreement with the consortium of WRS Holdings Inc. and Scheirman Construction Consolidated Inc. for the development of the 4PH housing projects.

By the end of last year, four buildings have already been constructed.

The first and second towers have 64 units each, the third tower has 80 units, and the fourth tower has 88 units. (PNA)
