The Emergency Operations Center Task Force (EOC-TF) here has opened coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination hubs for children aged 5 to 11 in three shopping malls starting this week.

After inoculation for all age groups was suspended on Tuesday for reconciliation of vaccines, ancillaries, and supplies in Western Visayas, the campaign resumed on Wednesday in all designated vaccination sites.

After the launching for the 5 to 11 age group at the malls on February 21, jabs are now available for children at Ayala Malls Capitol Central, SM City Bacolod, and Robinsons Place Bacolod.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who visited the site in one of the malls, thanked the parents for entrusting their children to the city’s vaccination team.

“When you look at these children, they may be small and cute, but they are also fearless. They will be the ones who will make our vaccination program complete,” he said.

On Wednesday, the mall vaccination sites set a “first come, first served” policy for children since they are limiting the number of vaccinees to only 100.

Meanwhile, Leonardia has expressed gratitude to Bacolodnons for heeding the city government’s call for continued compliance with the minimum health protocols after Bacolod logged a zero Covid-19 case on February 21 and 22, based on the data of the EOC-TF.

The first time Bacolod registered a zero case was on March 10, 2021, records showed.

In the past week, Bacolod saw a drop of cases to 14 and further down to 12, then to only 11 daily infections from February 17 to 19.

“This is testimonial to the Bacolodnons’ full cooperation as we continue the fight against the pandemic. We must learn how to live with the virus and adjust to it accordingly and cautiously,” Leonardia said. (PNA)
