The Home Court Artistry (HCA) Production, a Pangasinan-based film production team, the Lingayen Police Station, and volunteers have partnered to provide food and services aid to the communities in this town.

“The project, Bayanihan sa Barangay, aims to provide the basic needs of the community and bring the spirit of Bayanihan in this time of pandemic through series of charity events for the residents of Lingayen,” HCA chief executive officer Harvie Aquino said in an interview on Tuesday.

He said their project was inspired by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office’s (PPPO) ‘Barangayanihan’, wherein it reaches out to indigent citizens in communities in the province to bring food aid.

“We have leveled up the Barangayanihan as we not only have a food bank or the community pantry at a barangay but we also integrated kusina-bayanihan or a food feeding station, free blood pressure check, and eyeglasses for the senior citizens, among others,” he said.

He added they also have a program for persons with disabilities (PWDs) or the sugod-bahay-Bayanihan, as they bring the relief packs to their houses.

“The project started in Barangay Libsong West with my family as one of the sponsors and the policemen in the province. And eventually, when we scheduled it in another barangay in the town, many who are well-off in life and even some members of the local government units, non-government organizations, have sponsored,” Aquino said.

At present, there are now different organizations and volunteers who are joining the Bayanihan sa Barangay.

“Malaking tulong ito sa ating mga kapus-palad na kabarangay. Kaya’t maraming salamat (This is a big help for indigent residents in our barangay. So thank you very much),” Tonton barangay captain Belmundo Gumapos said in a separate interview.

Aquino said one of the HCA artists will replicate the project in San Fabian town. (PNA)
