For 15 children living at the Pagsapupo Center, a shelter managed by the Antique provincial government, this Christmas season offers a heartwarming opportunity: the chance to experience the warmth of family life through the “share-a-home” program.

Social worker Rebecca Lotilla, who oversees the center under the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), said in an interview Monday that they are seeking families willing to open their hearts and homes to these children from Dec. 19 to Jan. 2.

“Some parents, teachers, and even relatives of the children have already expressed their interest in hosting them. But we’re still looking for more families who can share the joy of the season,” Lotilla said.

The “share-a-home” program, a cherished tradition for years, has brought unforgettable memories to the children.

Many returned with stories of learning household chores, shopping for their needs, and receiving gifts, all while feeling the love of a family.

Organizations like the Antique Convention Baptist Women Missionary Union (ACBWMU) also brightened the season. On Sunday, the group hosted a gift-giving event with snacks for the children.

Amid their challenges, the children remain hopeful. Two of the center’s wards shared with the Philippine News Agency their dreams of becoming professionals.

They vowed to continue their education at a nearby school.

They credit the center and the community’s support for helping them move past their difficult experiences.

This Christmas, the “share-a-home” program not only gives these children a taste of family life but also embodies the true spirit of the season —love, generosity, and hope. (PNA)
