The National Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, popularly known as the Antipolo Cathedral, has been chosen as one of the 30 Marian Sanctuaries to participate in a marathon of prayer in May to end the pandemic.

“The Antipolo is asked to pray the Holy Rosary for the intentions of all the families. This will be broadcasted live by the Vatican Media on May 7, 2021 at 6 p.m., Rome Time, (12 midnight, Philippine Time). This is an initiative of His Holiness, Pope Francis,” it said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Among the famous Marian Shrines around the world that were also chosen by the Vatican for the activity are the Basilica of the Annunciation in Israel, Our Lady of Lourdes in France, and the Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico, among others.

The Antipolo Cathedral is the oldest national shrine in the country.

It was declared by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) as a national shrine on January 14, 1954. (PNA)
