With too many options and not enough time, it’s hard to decide where to jet off to next. Traveling is fun, but being paralyzed by choice and options is not.

Are you a wanderlust? Do you dream of going to different places and exploring the beauty of the world? Create a bucket list and write down your dream destinations!

If you’re open to trying new locales through unconventional means, then this list of cities might pique your interest.

In the third installment of Alphabet Cities, read the list below and see if these five cities from the letter K to O could be your next travel destination.

Kuching, Malaysia

If you always think of Kuala Lumpur when you imagine Malaysia, then try out this other K-named Malaysian city that’s just as fun to explore. The city has its fair share of history with the historical home of the Governor, alongside riverfronts and old streets that are a sight to behold.

If you ever wanted to learn more about the culture here, the Cat Museum and the Chinese Museum are definitely great places to start, alongside the market stalls, colonial buildings, and Chinese streets that are worth a visit. Kuching is one of Asia’s best-kept secrets, a secret waiting to be explored.

Lyon, France

If you also think about Paris when you hear France, then this less-known city is worth a visit if you want something different. Lyon has all the charm and history that Paris offers, being the stage of uprisings and massacres in the past. This history is evident when you pass by the historical areas of the city, with charm and beauty intact, where one area has been declared a World Heritage Site.

It may not be Paris, but you’re going to spend an incredible time here nonetheless, discovering what the city truly has to offer.

Montevideo, Uruguay

If you want a blend of historical and modern, then this city is right for you. This South American city boasts a melting pot of influences, from Spanish, Italian, and Art Deco styles. The Montevideo carnival in February is also a riot to experience, and you can immediately take a break on the long stretch of white, sandy beach surrounding the city. Party all night and then doze off by the water the next day, all in the same city.

Nairobi, Kenya

If you’re not a fan of the hot or the cold, then don’t worry as the temperatures in Nairobi keep it comfortable for you. From its humble beginnings as a supply depot, the city developed further and further until it became a cultural hodgepodge of skyscrapers, malls, and historical villas. Parks, museums, and galleries are also plentiful enough to keep your interest as you travel and explore this unique city.

Oaxaca, Mexico

Yet another UNESCO World Heritage Site on this list, this quaint town in Mexico fosters so much cultural legacy of the nation that is quite present in the architecture. You’ll get a great glimpse of the country’s colonial past, while the pre-colonial heritage stands tall up in the mountains.

Sandy beaches and great hot chocolate await your arrival here, and make sure to plan your trip around early November for Day of the Dead because you definitely won’t want to miss it.

Midway through the alphabet, these five cities showcase the great historical legacy that these countries have to offer. If you ever want a blend of the past and the present, these five cities will surely wow you when you visit.
