It’s all systems go for the 39th Kadayawan Festival next month, an official here said Monday.

In an interview with the Philippine News Agency, City Tourism Operations Office head Jennifer Romero said security is in place, and the festival’s tribal village attraction is 90 percent complete.

Romero said the renovation of the Kadayawan Tribal Village in Magsaysay Park has also been fast-tracked for its opening on Aug. 8. As one of the highlights of the 39th Kadayawan Festival, the tribal village was built to showcase the rich culture and heritage of the city’s 11 tribes.

She said the major events –Pamulak sa Kadayawan and Indak-Indak– will be held together to signal the festival’s closing event on Aug. 18.

“We wanted to confine the two big events to one day so that the executive committee and traffic management could continuously plan to properly utilize [the time] and ensure that our traffic would be managed accordingly,” she added.

Amid these changes, Romero said they ensured the parade would end on time.

Meanwhile, Davao City Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) head Angel Sumagaysay said 20,485 security and safety personnel will be deployed throughout the festival.

“We have dedicated personnel per event, and that [the number of personnel to be deployed] also includes accommodations,” Sumagaysay said, adding they will have an average daily deployment of 661 in the city.

The City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) said at least 486 traffic personnel will be deployed for all activities, with 118 for the Pamulak and Indak-Indak events alone. (PNA)
