Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, has been named a Visionary in 2021 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud Infrastructure and Platform Services (Magic Quadrant for CIPS). Alibaba Cloud moved further on right and appeared as a Visionary for the first time.
According to Gartner, “The scope of the Magic Quadrant for CIPS includes Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and integrated Platform as a Service (PaaS) offerings.” The evaluation criteria cover a vendor’s ability to execute and the completeness of its vision. Under these criteria, the report analyzed a provider’s Product or Service, Market Responsiveness, Business Model, and Innovation, among other metrics.
“Visionaries have an ambitious vision of the future and are making significant investments in the development of unique technologies,” according to Gartner.

Earlier this year, Alibaba Group was ranked third in the global Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) market and first in the Asia Pacific region for the third consecutive year in Gartner Market Share: IT Services, Worldwide 2020 report.
In November 2020, Alibaba Cloud was named a Leader in 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud Database Management Systems.
