The Department of Agrarian Reform in the Caraga Region (DAR-13) gave four abaca stripping machines to the Bonifacio Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (BARC), a group of 302 agrarian reform beneficiaries engaged in abaca farming in Las Nieves town, Agusan del Norte.

DAR-13 Regional Director Merlita Capinpuyan turned over the abaca stripping machines worth PHP640,000 to BARC on Monday as part of the DAR’s Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Project.

Michael Mandahinog, Las Nieves Municipal Information Officer, expressed gratitude to DAR for the release of the machines and said that the local government unit under Mayor Karen Rosales will provide support to BARC for the effective management of their projects.

BARC chair Luisito Lumantas expressed optimism that the stripping machines will help improve their abaca products and looks forward to more collaboration with their LGU and DAR to further strengthen their organization.

Capinpuyan, Rosales and Vice Governor Enrico Corvera were present during the turnover. (PNA)
