The chiefs of 590 villages in Antique must submit their detailed priority projects to be eligible for the Bawat Barangay Makikinabang (BBM) program allocation.

Liga ng mga Barangay Antique president Julius Cezar Tajanlangit said the provincial government received the P118 million budget two weeks ago.

“We are still waiting for the other barangays to submit their requirements, such as the names of the scholars and priority projects, so the funds could be downloaded to them,” he said in an interview Tuesday.

Tajanlangit said about 80 percent of the village chiefs have submitted the names of their scholars and priority projects.

Under the program, each village will receive PHP200,000. Of the amount, PHP100,000 will be for the Bagong Pilipinas Barangay Scholars Program and PHP100,000 assistance for Barangay-Identified Development Priorities.

“For the barangays that have already submitted their priority projects, they proposed tents, monoblock, computer or printer, projector and closed-circuit television,” he said.

The scholarship program is for indigent students, particularly incoming fourth-year college students for the school year 2026-2027, who are members of vulnerable households or are at risk of dropping out. (PNA)
