The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has already registered about 90 percent of the total population of the city and province of Iloilo with the national identification (ID) system.

“As of Feb. 28, we were able to register 2,292,751 for the whole province and city of Iloilo, or approximately, around 90 percent of our total population based on the 2024 Census of Population,” Iloilo Supervising Statistical Specialist Jerry Dolutan said in an interview on Wednesday.

Dolutan estimated that only 260,000 residents remain unregistered.

In the first quarter of the year, the PSA registered 2,620 senior citizens and 1,574 individuals aged zero to four years old.

He said the PSA has a co-location with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) during the latter’s payout for Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries, senior citizens, and the Walang Gutom Program.

Based on the DSWD record, he said, about 30,000 4Ps beneficiaries and senior citizens are unregistered, although the number could be less due to the ongoing registration.

Dolutan said the PSA is also coordinating with local government units (LGUs) for mobile registration to ensure that even bedridden individuals are registered.

“For our deployment, we ensure that we have teams in every congressional district. We coordinate their schedules with the help of our LGUs,” he said.

Meanwhile, more than 1.7 million national ID cards have been delivered, while PSA has issued 863,183 IDs in paper form.

As of the first quarter this year, 17,574 electronic IDs were printed.

“We promote the digital ID through eGovPH application. Based on the information from our partner agency, the Department of Information and Communications Technology, individuals aged 12 and above can download the application if they are already registered with the national ID,” Dolutan said.

He emphasized that the information provided during the national ID registration and downloading of the application must be the same.

“We need to ensure the accuracy and correctness of the information they provide,” he said. (PNA)
