All government offices, ministries, and bureaus in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have started adopting energy conservation protocols, including a transition to a four-day on-site work arrangement, officials said.

In a memorandum circular, Bangsamoro Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua ordered all personnel to implement the new schedule, which also accommodates religious observances during Ramadan while maintaining productivity and government services.

For BARMM Muslim officials and employees observing Ramadan, the onsite work schedule is from Monday to Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with no noon break. Employees who are not observing the fast must work onsite from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a one-hour break.

A one-day work-from-home arrangement will be designated by office heads to ensure adequate onsite staffing.

Macacua said when Ramadan ends, or Eid’l Fitr on March 18, all offices will transition to a 40-hour compressed work week over four working days.

Employees reporting onsite must observe attendance monitoring policies, while those working from home must utilize authorized digital time-logging platforms.

Offices providing health, emergency, frontline, regulatory, and other essential services shall ensure adequate personnel remain physically present or immediately available at all times to maintain uninterrupted service delivery to the Bangsamoro. (PNA)
