The Dinagat Islands’ provincial government honored 26 students who graduated with Latin honors last year, distributing cash awards during a ceremony on Monday.

Governor Nilo Demerey Jr. presented the incentives at the People’s Hall in San Jose town, with one summa cum laude receiving PHP10,000, one magna cum laude, PHP7,000, and 24 cum laude graduates, PHP5,000 each.

“The provincial government of Dinagat values the perseverance, discipline, and excellence that these students embody,” Demerey said in a message to the Philippine News Agency on Tuesday.

He said the cash incentives represent the province’s commitment to honor talent, nurture potential, and inspire others to follow their example.

“Education is the foundation of progress. By recognizing their efforts, the provincial government affirms that the future of the Dinagat Islands rests in the hands of capable, dedicated, and visionary young leaders,” he said.

Aimee Jimeno, mother of the summa cum laude awardee, expressed gratitude in a Facebook post.

“You experience joy when your government and the governor acknowledge and celebrate your child’s academic achievement,” Jimeno said. (PNA)
