The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) will donate technology packages and essential learning equipment worth PHP12 million to 30 public schools nationwide under its Adopt-a-School Program (ASP), prioritizing schools in underserved and remote communities.

GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said Tuesday this would enhance access to quality education by supporting both online and face-to-face learning, particularly for learners in indigenous communities and geographically isolated areas.

“This is an investment in educational equity and the future of our young learners,” Veloso said.

“By bringing digital tools and modern equipment to schools, especially those in indigenous communities and remote areas, we are creating tangible opportunities for students,” he added.

Under an agreement with the Department of Education, each of the 30 recipient schools will receive a PHP400,000 assistance package consisting of information and communications technology equipment, furniture, and appliances tailored to their specific needs.

The GSIS will oversee the procurement and delivery of the equipment.

The Adopt-a-School Program, launched in 2014, has supported 195 public schools nationwide, with total expenditures reaching PHP64.6 million.

Assistance provided includes laptops, printers, school furniture, and infrastructure repairs, with two schools in Mindanao also equipped with solar panel installations as part of the agency’s sustainability efforts, the GSIS reported.

Of the beneficiary schools, 20 are in the National Capital Region, 82 in Luzon, 38 in the Visayas, and 55 in Mindanao. (PNA)
