The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Wednesday the recently concluded trilateral maritime exercise with the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) and the United States Coast Guard (USCG) has enhanced the three countries’ alliance on coast guard safety and security.

In a statement, the PCG said participation in the 2nd Joint Trilateral Maritime Exercise in Kagoshima, Japan highlighted the significance of maritime cooperation among allies in the region.

The exercise included a Communication Exercise (COMMEX), a Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX), a Fire Fighting Exercise (FFEX), a Photo Exercise (PHOTOEX), and an Exercise on Transfer of Personnel.

“The exercise enhanced interoperability among the three coast guards and strengthened their collective capability to respond to maritime emergencies and natural disasters,” the PCG said.

“It also served as a vital platform to exchange best practices, improve operational synergy, and reaffirm the shared commitment to uphold safety, security, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.”
