Lanao del Norte is prioritizing upgrades to sports facilities to better support local athletes, outgoing governor and incoming 1st District Representative Imelda Dimaporo said Thursday.

The initiative follows recent improvements to the Mindanao Civic Center Sports Complex, including its new Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA)-certified football field.

Dimaporo, who will assume her congressional post after midterm elections, pledged to continue developing sports infrastructure.

“In my return to Congress, I will work hard to add more sports facilities,” she said.

The upgrades aim to benefit youth athletes competing in events like Palarong Pambansa, National Schools Press Conference, and National Festival of Talents.

Dimaporo will be succeeded as governor by her son, Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo. (PNA)
