The province of Dinagat Islands has begun construction of a 1.5-km. road that will connect two villages.

The road will connect Barangay Cuarinta in San Jose and Barangay Manoligao in Cagdianao, Governor Nilo Demerey Jr. said Friday.

“This road project will boost connectivity, provide comfort to residents, and connect farmers and fisherfolk to markets,” Demerey said.

The PHP14.9 million project is funded under the provincial government’s 20 percent development fund.

Lawyer Niel Edward Demerey represented the governor at a groundbreaking ceremony.

“This project is a priority,” he said, adding that the road will also provide access for utilities.

The road will help the water district access its facilities for maintenance and emergencies.

It will also provide access for the provincial government and agencies to protect watershed areas. (PNA)
