The provincial government of Agusan del Sur and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in the Caraga Region (DENR-13) have signed a memorandum of agreement for the establishment of a standard regional baseline for testing and registration of surveying instruments.

The Land Management Bureau of the DENR and the Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines also took part in the MOA signing Thursday and the groundbreaking of the testing site inside the D.O Plaza Government Center in Barangay Patin-ay, Prosperidad town.

“The establishment of the testing center aims to improve the registration and calibration of surveying instruments for more accurate and efficient land surveying in the Caraga Region,” the provincial government said in a statement on Friday.

The testing and registration site will also help advance the practice of geodetic engineering in the region, it added.

With the established site, the quality of land surveys will also be enhanced and contribute to the development of the region’s infrastructures through the provision of a more reliable and standardized system for testing and registration of surveying instruments.

In a separate statement, the DENR-13 said the establishment of the testing site corresponds to the guidelines set in the Lands Management Circular No. 2022-004 and Department Order No. 2007-29.

The guidelines provide a structured framework for survey instrument testing and registration to ensure precision and accountability in geodetic practices. (PNA)
