The Dagohoy Multipurpose Cooperative (DMPC) in Talaingod, Davao del Norte will receive a PHP5 million bio-secured swine facility under the Department of Agriculture-Davao Region (DA-11) Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) project.

In a statement Monday, DA-11 Director Macario Gonzaga said the facility includes 100 heads of swine for grow-out, feeds, and biologics.

The project also supports modern facilities, biosecurity measures and other components such as initial stock purchases, equipment, and facility repairs.

“The entire system is envisioned to be a sustainable source of quality hogs for the local market, aiding in the calibrated repopulation and expansion of production farm clustering,” Gonzaga said.

He added that the initiative aims to ensure food security and additional income for farmer cooperatives.

“DA’s livestock program will not stop here. More farmers’ organizations and cooperatives will receive this kind of support from us,” Gonzaga said. (PNA)
