The Surigao del Norte provincial government has distributed over PHP1.1 million in financial assistance to students of the Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU)-Claver Campus, benefiting 555 students.

In a statement Thursday, the provincial government said each student received PHP2,000 in cash assistance.

“The assistance is on time as I need to buy materials for my school requirements,” said Clarissa, 21, one of the beneficiaries.

She added that the cash aid would also help cover other necessities, including food and miscellaneous expenses.

Governor Robert Lyndon Barbers, Vice Gov. Eddie Gokiangkee Jr., and Claver Mayor Georgia Gokiangkee led the distribution of the aid on Wednesday.

“The provincial government is here to help you become productive members of our province by completing your studies,” Barbers told the students during the event.

He also acknowledged the efforts of the local government of Claver and SNSU management in addressing the students’ needs.

Barbers emphasized that the financial aid reflects the province’s commitment to investing in its youth, whom he called the future of the province. (PNA)
