Mati City Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat received PHP5.4 million from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) on Friday to enhance healthcare services in the city.

PhilHealth Regional Vice President Harvey Carcedo presented the ceremonial check to Rabat, marking the initial payment for the rollout of the PhilHealth Konsulta Package, a key component of the Universal Health Care (UHC) Law that provides outpatient care for residents.

“This initial payment is a significant step toward improving healthcare accessibility in Mati. Through the Konsulta Package, we are ensuring that our residents, especially those in need, receive the medical attention they deserve,” Rabat said in a statement.

She emphasized that the program supports the city’s commitment to delivering quality healthcare and improving residents’ well-being.

Mati’s City Health Office, accredited as a PhilHealth Konsulta Provider, has been instrumental in offering essential healthcare services to registered beneficiaries. These services include medical consultations, health risk assessments, laboratory and diagnostic tests, and access to specific medications.

“This program ensures that underserved and indigent residents in Mati can access primary healthcare services without additional costs, with PhilHealth covering the expenses,” Rabat added.

The Konsulta Package is part of the UHC Law’s larger vision to make healthcare more affordable and accessible to all Filipinos, particularly those in vulnerable communities. (PNA)
