Forty-nine community projects in the coffee capital town Tuburan of Cebu province recently got PHP13 million in aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s anti-poverty program.

Tuburan Mayor Aljun Diamante on Tuesday thanked the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) program of the DSWD for funding 49 community sub-projects.

The municipal government also contributed PHP1 million.

“We are grateful to the Marcos administration for the projects that will benefit our children at the daycare level and our constituencies for the water and sanitary-related projects,” he told the Philippine News Agency.

DSWD-Central Visayas Assistant Director Juanito Cantero turned over Monday the repaired daycare centers in 33 villages, water systems in 11 villages, sanitary toilets in three villages and training materials in two villages.

The projects are implemented through the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project.

KALAHI-CIDSS is one of the poverty alleviation programs of the government that started in 2003, a community-driven development approach for achieving service delivery, poverty reduction and good governance. (PNA)
