The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is hoping to attract the youth to pursue a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) through the National Youth, Science, Technology and Innovation Festival (NYSTIF) on Oct. 25 to 28.

In a public briefing Monday, DOST Undersecretary Maridon Sahagun said several events are lined up, including pitching competition; science journalism contest; exhibits; forum and seminars.

“This is the (DOST’s) first innovation festival focusing on the youth. It aims to increase their awareness on science and technology, and urge them to pursue a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics),” Sahagun said.

The seminar topics include artificial intelligence and nanotechnology, while the exhibits will focus on nature, future of STEM and emerging technologies.

“Everyone is invited, and this is free,” she said.

The event, to be held at the Philippine International Convention Center Forum Tent in Pasay City will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event’s activities and registration link can be found on the National Youth, Science, Technology and Innovation Festival’s Facebook page.

Walk-ins are welcome, Sahagun said. (PNA)
