The City of Victorias in Negros Occidental distributed on Thursday electronic gadgets, including computer tablets, laptops and Smart TVs, to public school teachers and learners as part of the local government’s efforts for digital transformation.

On the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez led the turnover of 3,555 tablets for students, 924 laptops for teachers and 713 Smart TVs for public classrooms during the Education Summit held at the Victorias City Sports and Amusement Center.

In a statement, Benitez said Victorias is “moving towards digitization in classrooms as knowledge transfer is now happening at a rapid pace”.

“We dream of a global city, and it must start with a global classroom. If we invest in digital technology, the opportunities are endless and the learning is limitless,” he added.

Benitez said the city government guarantees the provision of necessary support for the Schools Division Office of Victorias City as its constant partner in ensuring the delivery of quality life-long learning.

The northern Negros City’s Education Summit was also attended by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Basic Education, Arts and Culture; and Negros Occidental Third District Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez.

On the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, the city government also extended its appreciation to all mentors who, with their passion and commitment, make the city a place where dreams take flight.

“We take a moment to applaud and honor these dedicated professionals who work tirelessly to mold our children into responsible, informed, and compassionate citizens,” the statement said. (PNA)
