At least 1,000 college scholars benefited from a PHP6-million allowance grant extended by the provincial government following the signing of a memorandum of agreement with the students at the provincial gymnasium Monday.

Each scholar received PHP6,000 that they can use for their school needs, including tuition and other requirements.

Rhever Jude Ansing, a second year Bachelor of Science in Nursing student at the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) in Kabacan town, said the grant has helped her pay for important school requirements.

“I am so happy that I was included in this new set of scholars this year. I want to extend my gratitude to the provincial government to help the students who are financially challenged like me, a nursing student who has several monetary obligations” Ansing said.

Emy Pacullo, another scholar from the Cotabato Medical Foundation College Inc. of Midsayap town, finds the program to students like her “who are eager to study but are having a hard time pursuing school due to financial constraints.”

Provincial Advisory Council (PAC) member Dr. Gloria Mudanza, meanwhile, challenged the scholars to excel and use the assistance to boost their potential to achieve their dreams.

Governor Emmylou Mendoza, for her part, assured that scholarship grants will be offered fairly to all potential students even those from the remote villages of the province. (PNA)
