The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Tuesday said 4,376 individuals with totally damaged and partially damaged houses both in the first and second district of Ilocos Norte will receive emergency cash transfer (ECT) for the repair of their homes.

This will be the second batch of ECT recipients, the first being those from Batac City and Batac town composed of 3,821 beneficiaries who received a payout last Aug. 3.

“Those with totally damaged houses will receive PHP13,500 each while those with partially damaged houses will receive PHP9,000 each,” said Rochelle Gajes, acting head of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office in Ilocos Norte.

The provincial government distributed ECTs to 320 beneficiaries in Vintar town on Tuesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, the provincial government will be in Currimao, Paoay, Batac, Laoag, Nueva Era, Marcos, Banna and Dingras for the cash payout.

On Sept. 1, beneficiaries from Burgos and Bacarra towns will get the aid.

Aside from the ECT program, the Ilocos Norte government is also bringing back its Capitol Express program to the different towns and cities of the province to bring in different government services closer to the people.

Among the most requested programs of the provincial government are the grant of agricultural inputs and farm machineries, benefiting thousands of farmers and fisherfolk across the province. (PNA)
