A total of 215 Bulakenyos have so far received livelihood packages from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) under its Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) program.

Edna Dizon, director of DTI-Bulacan, said in an interview on Wednesday that out of the total beneficiaries, 188 were barangay health workers (BHWs), seven were fire victims and 20 were existing and potential micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Dizon said the DTI- PPG is a livelihood seeding and entrepreneurship development program which aims to assist individuals and families affected by fires and other calamities, including health disasters like the Covid-19 pandemic, and those who avail of the Balik Probinsiya Program to recover and/or start their businesses.

She said before the awarding of PHP10,000 worth of livelihood packages to each beneficiary, they all have undergone assessment, orientation, and capability building seminars to further enhance their knowledge on starting a business.

The livelihood packages that were given to the beneficiaries include sari-sari store, rice and frozen products retail, and loading station, among others.

‘Under this program, the DTI will provide more assistance to families or individuals affected by fire incidents and other forms of calamities,” Dizon added. (PNA)
