Vice President Leni Robredo led the awarding of certificates to Kamuning TODA drivers who took part in the Community Mart initiative of her office, after finishing the five-day basic motorcycle preventive maintenance training initiated in partnership with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The brief ceremony was held at Tomas Morato Elementary School in Quezon City on Wednesday, February 3, 2021.

The Office of the Vice President has been providing capacity building trainings for Community Mart tricycle drivers and market vendors, as part of its continuous efforts to alleviate poverty under the Angat Buhay program.

The motorcycle preventive maintenance training the drivers received aims to equip them with necessary technical skills and help them cut costs needed for vehicle repair. Aside from certificates, drivers who finished the training also received basic tool kits.

Sonny Ambrocio, one of the Kamuning TODA drivers who completed the training, thanked VP Leni’s office and TESDA for initiating projects that would support the livelihood of motorcycle drivers. “Sa mga kapwa ko nagtapos, sana pagbutihin natin ito at i-apply sa pang-araw-araw nating kabuhayan. Maraming salamat pong muli sa inyo at sana marami pa kayong matulungang katulad namin sa ganitong hanapbuhay,” Ambrocio said.

After the awarding, VP Leni also took the opportunity to listen to the challenges in the livelihood of food delivery riders and motorcycle drivers brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
