The country’s total number of recovered cases from the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) rose to 386,955 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 183 new recoveries on Wednesday.
In its 4 p.m. case bulletin, the DOH also reported that 1,202 have acquired the disease while 31 have died. These numbers bring the total number of active cases to 27,745 and the death toll to 8,215.
Of the active cases, about 83.7 percent were classified as mild, 8.2 percent as asymptomatic, 2.7 percent as severe, 0.27 percent as moderate, and 5.1 percent in critical condition.
“Nine duplicates were removed from the total case count, and, of these, eight were recovered cases. Moreover, 12 cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths and there’s also one case that was previously reported as death but has been validated as recovered,” the DOH said.
Davao City topped the list of areas where new Covid-19 cases were logged with 137 infections. It is followed by Quezon City with 68, Batangas with 59, Laguna with 54, and Cavite with 54 cases.
A November 24 DOH report showed that 995 or 5.3 percent of 18,804 who were tested for Covid-19 turned positive.
The DOH also said it remains to have 21,300 total bed capacity for patients with Covid-19.
About 58 percent of intensive care unit beds, 61 percent of 13,500 isolation beds, and 70 percent of 5,900 ward beds are available for patients’ use.
It added that 80 percent of 2,000 ventilators are also available for patients with Covid-19. (PNA)
