The Agusan del Sur provincial government has announced the opening of a newly-completed, 50-room quarantine facility in the province.

“The provincial facility is located in Barangay Consuelo, Bunawan town, and is now ready to serve the constituents in the province, particularly those who are recommended to undergo quarantine,” provincial information officer Alfredo Plaza told the Philippine News Agency Tuesday.

“The establishment of the facility is one of the measures of the provincial government in its continuing response to the threat of Covid-19,” Plaza said.

He said the quarantine facility is equipped with eight shower rooms and toilet rooms. It also has a powerhouse that can provide electricity during a power interruption, a kitchen, dining room, health employees’ quarters with toilet and bath each and lockers for employees.

All rooms at the new facility are fully air-conditioned with a 32-inch flat-screen TV in each room and WIFI connectivity.

Meanwhile, Gov. Santiago Cane also announced that the province’s first molecular laboratory is expected to operate by December this year.

“Once all the ordered laboratory equipment is in place, inauguration and operation are expected to happen within the month of December 2020,” Cane said in a Facebook post on Monday.

The construction of the laboratory was started in July this year with a budget of PHP17 million. (PNA)
