Globe Telecom, Inc. (Globe) on Monday said it has fully restored its voice, text, and internet services in Malilipot and Tabaco, Albay as well as in Caramoan, Camarines Sur.

This is in addition to the cities of Legazpi, Ligao, and the towns of Bacacay, Daraga, Guinobatan, Jovellar, Libon, Manito, Oas, Pio Duran, Polangui, Rapu-Rapu, and Sto. Domingo in Albay that Globe has fully serviced on Friday.

In Catanduanes, it said that services had been fully restored in Bato, San Andres, and Virac since Thursday.

“The company’s network operations team has been working 24/7 to ensure that mobile and data services are restored, to provide for its customers’ critical communication needs in areas severely affected by Typhoon Rolly,” Globe said.

Free data, no charges

To help ease the suffering and to make up to its customers who experienced a loss of broadband services, it has given free data to its broadband customers in Albay, Catanduanes, and Camarines Sur and reversed the charges during the days that these customers experienced no internet connection.

For its broadband postpaid users, it has given free 20 gigabytes (GB) of data valid for 15 days — in addition to their monthly data cap — while its broadband prepaid users were provided with free 5GB of data that were valid for three days.

“At the same time, Globe gave free unlimited calls and texts to Globe/TM for three days to all its prepaid customers in the three areas. They also received IDD credits,” Globe said.

On Wednesday, Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) announced that it has restored its voice and call services in the province of Catanduanes.

This, after it was able to “normalize” mobile services in Albay, Batangas, Bulacan, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Pampanga, Northern Samar, Tarlac, and Zambales on Tuesday, “except in areas affected by commercial power outages and transport-related concerns.” (PNA)
