Farmers in the province have saved their harvest from weather disturbances with the help of harvesting and hauling machines provided by the government.

Provincial agrarian reform officer Jocelyn Ramones on Thursday said farmers belonging to different agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) and cooperatives have experienced the convenience of mechanization during harvest season.

“Palay harvesting and hauling become easier and faster through the use of the farm machinery and equipment provided to the ARBOs-Cooperatives by the Department of Agrarian Reform-Nueva Ecija under its Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Project (CRFPSP) and CSF-ARCCESS (Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services),” she said in an interview.

Ramones said Sally Pascual, manager of Villa Bar Primary Multi-Purpose Cooperative, reported that their combine harvester recently serviced 21.8 hectares with 2,518 cavans of palay.

Likewise, she said Nagkakaisang Magsasaka Primary Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) manager Irene Dela Cruz reported that they have finished harvesting their ARB members’ palay.

“They are also into rice milling, trading and supplying rice to Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Nueva Ecija under the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty,” Ramones added. (PNA)
