Most parts of the archipelago will continue to experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon affecting Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, will bring rains over most parts of the archipelago, a weather specialist said on Friday.

This weather condition will prevail over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, the Bicol Region, the Visayas, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga.

The LPA was last spotted 310 km. west-northwest of Coron, Palawan.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Loriedin de la Cruz said the LPA is likely to develop into a tropical depression.

Isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms will be experienced over the Davao Region, Soccsksargen, and the BARMM.

The northeasterly surface windflow, on the other hand, will cause isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley.

Meanwhile, strong winds and rough seas will prevail over Northern Luzon.

Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon will have moderate to strong winds, and moderate to rough coastal waters.

Elsewhere, winds will be light with slight coastal waters, PAGASA said. (PNA)
