Police clearance booths will soon be put up in all SM malls nationwide to make the issuance of police clearance faster and more convenient to the transacting public, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Camilo Cascolan said on Monday.

Cascolan said the installation of the police clearance booths inside SM malls aims to decongest PNP camps and other installations “and to make this frontline service more accessible to the people.”

“I am glad to announce that the SM Malls and the PNP have finalized plans to put up PNP National Police clearance booths in SM Malls nationwide,” Cascolan said in a press briefing at Camp Crame.

He said the management of the SM malls assured a projected soft opening of the police clearance booths in SM Government Service Centers at SM MOA, SM Bacoor, and SM Southmall within two months.

“I am grateful to Mr. Steven Tan, President of SM Supermalls for his approval of the pilot project of National Police Clearance booths in SM Malls during a meeting with the PNP last Sept. 16 with the assurance of projected soft opening,” he said.

At present, the SM Government Service Centers accept basic government services like renewal of driver’s license and Pag-IBIG payments. (PNA)
