North Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco delivered her provincial State of the Children Report 2019 inside one of the evacuation sites for earthquake victims in the province.

In her report at Camp Bulatukan, Makilala, she assured her constituents–especially the children–that the provincial government will continue with its annual youth peace camp despite the recent spate of calamities that recently struck the province.

“During peace camps, the children and the youth are allowed to discover themselves on becoming future leaders,” Catamco said.

On top of peace camps, she said the provincial government will hold regular feeding program to ensure children are getting nutritious food instead of over the counter processed food.

Catamco will also initiate a gardening project for children to make them productive and have income at a young age.

“There’s nothing wrong with dirty hands in gardening because it symbolizes labor and determination to develop and improve lives,” she said.

“Out of your report, I will know what needs to be done for your sake,” Catamco added.

She said the youth in North Cotabato is set to undergo a series of training on disaster preparedness for them to keep themselves and their families safe amid calamities.

“The youth of North Cotabato have all the right to speak their minds and to be heard,” Catamco said. (PNA)
