A Royal Thai Navy (RTN) delegation visited the Philippine Navy (PN) headquarters at Naval Station Jose Andrada, Roxas Boulevard, Manila.

Lt. Commander Maria Christina Roxas, PN public affairs office chief, said the RTN delegation was headed by Deputy Director General of the Naval Intelligence Department, Rear Admiral Chonlathis Navanugraha.

The RTN official and his contingent were received by Naval Sea Systems head Rear Admiral Rommel Jason L. Galang, who represented PN flag-officer-in-command Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad.

Navanugraha and his party were welcomed at the Hall of Flags, PN headquarters.

Roxas said the RTN delegation is in the country for the 6th PN-RTN INTELCON which was hosted this year by the Philippine Navy.

“The PN-RTN INTELCON solidifies the enhanced navy-navy relationship between the Philippine Navy and the Royal Thai Navy. This exchange focuses on regional and global strategic updates, with emphasis on maritime non-traditional security threats such as piracy and armed robbery at sea,” she added.

This activity signifies the sustainment of the already strong friendship between the Philippines and its Asean partner navy which also benefits both armed forces.

Earlier this year RTN ships docked in the country for a goodwill visit.

Both countries enjoy long-standing diplomatic relations since 1940s and have been strengthened through high-level exchanges and military visits. (PNA)
