More than 72 million Filipinos have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as of August 11, the Department of Health (DOH) said Friday.

In a media forum, DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said 6.8 million among the fully vaccinated are senior citizens, 9.8 million are adolescents, and 4.3 million are children.

More than 16.8 million individuals have received their first booster dose and almost 1.7 million got their second booster shot.

Vergeire encouraged the unvaccinated to receive their primary series of Covid-19 vaccines as case increases in most areas continue.

“The NCR [National Capital Region] Plus Areas and Mindanao show slight uptick in cases while the rest of Luzon and Visayas are showing signs of plateauing,” she said.

The NCR shows a slight downward trend with almost 1,300 cases per day

The country remains under low-risk classification for Covid-19 with an average daily attack rate of 3.51 cases per 100,000 population.

However, the national positivity rate increased to 18.5 percent this week from 18 percent last week. (PNA)
