About 600 farmers from Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, received their fuel subsidy cards during a one-day distribution event held on Tuesday under the facilitation of the Department of Agriculture in Caraga Region (DA-13).

In a statement on Wednesday, the DA-13 said that a total of PHP1.8 million in fuel subsidy was released, with each beneficiary receiving PHP3,000 worth of subsidy cards.

“The fuel subsidy will be used to procure fuel for their farm machinery and equipment, especially during the planting season,” the agency said.

Among the recipients of the subsidy cards was Maricel Gelay, a female rice farmer from the area, who was grateful to the government for the support she received.

“The PHP3,000 subsidy for fuel is enough to run our machinery and equipment as we prepare for the start of the planting season,” she said.

She noted that proper preparations for planting are essential for boosting productivity, securing a good harvest and increasing income.

The DA-13 announced that a series of fuel subsidy releases are scheduled this week in Butuan City and the towns of Buenavista and Nasipit in Agusan del Norte. (PNA)
