At least 55 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Leyte province will join the five-day Fiesta Bonanza Trade Expo 2023 in anticipation of high demand for local products due to fiesta celebrations in the city.

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Leyte provincial director Araceli Larraga said more MSMEs will participate in the marketing event to promote inclusive growth in the local economy.

“This conduct of the trade fair further aims to promote and generate sales for products of Leyte MSMEs and reinforce the DTI’s commitment to its mission of enabling innovative, competitive, job generating, inclusive businesses; and, empowering consumers,” Larraga said in an interview Tuesday.

The 55 participating MSMEs which will display their products at the Robinsons Place here on June 23 to 27 produce wearables and homestyle, processed food, processed fruits and nuts, cacao and coconut.

Inspired by higher sales in the past marketing event, the trade department is eyeing PHP2.5 million in sales from the five-day fair.

“After seeing the sales performance of Leyte MSMEs during provincial and regional fairs in 2022 – generating roughly PHP90,000 per MSME – the DTI Leyte is keen to set the bar higher and target PHP2.5 million for this year’s June trade fair,” Larraga added.

DTI has been holding market fairs to showcase new and improved products through a special setting.
