A total of 442 jobseekers in Ilocos Region were hired on the spot during the Independence Day job fairs.

Department of Labor and Employment Field Office 1 (Ilocos Region) information officer Jenny Mapile, in a phone interview Monday, said there were 484 nearly-hired jobseekers out of the 2,697 registered qualified applicants.

There were 30,731 job vacancies — 15,149 local and 15,582 overseas — available from 137 employers, she said.

The top job vacancies offered are production operator (1,610), customer service representative (1,012), production division operator (1,000), quality assurance inspector (1,100) and production associate (1,000), she said.

Various national government agencies also provided free services to jobseekers, mallgoers, and residents.

Meanwhile, those hired on the spot underwent the Department of Social Welfare and Development Sustainable Livelihood Program Eligibility Assessment.

Applicants who would later on qualify will receive PHP7,000 that they could use for the processing of their pre-employment requirements.
