A total of 4,455 residents from various towns in Davao del Norte have received more than PHP22.8 million in cash assistance through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 11 (Davao Region) Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program.

On Thursday, 935 beneficiaries in Barangay New Bantayan, Asuncion are scheduled to receive PHP5,122 each.

In Asuncion, the program earlier reached 2,604 residents, including 1,289 from Barangay Magatos and 1,315 from Barangay Cambanogoy.

DSWD-11 reported that 896 beneficiaries in Kapalong and 20 in San Isidro town had already received assistance.

The ECT program provides immediate, unconditional cash aid to families affected by disasters or emergencies, bridging the gap between initial relief and early recovery.

“Those who received the payout are validated residents identified by the local government unit (LGU) and DSWD,” the agency said, adding that the distribution was coordinated with LGUs to ensure smooth and organized implementation.

The assistance helps beneficiaries buy medicines, health care supplies, and nutritious food. (PNA)
