Around 32 teams of engineers, line working teams, and clearing crews of electric cooperatives (ECs) from eight regions are now helping in power restoration activities in heavily-battered Luzon provinces.

The National Electrification Administration (NEA), in a press release Tuesday, said the teams are scattered in the provinces of Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya and Catanduanes in line with Task Force Kapatid (Brotherhood), a program where ECs help each other.

Based on a report from the NEA Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department Tuesday, eight electric cooperatives in Luzon remained without power interruption due to Super Typhoon Uwan, affecting a total of 3,388,716 households.

These are the Nueva Vizcaya Electric Cooperative Inc., Quirino Electric Cooperative Inc., Ifugao Electric Cooperative Inc., Mountain Province Electric Cooperative Inc., Camarines Norte Electric Cooperative Inc., and Camarines Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. I, III and IV.

Among 60 other ECs in 39 provinces being monitored, 43 were still experiencing partial outages while nine have resumed normal operations. (PNA)
