Around 240 more police officers recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), pushing the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) recovery tally to 17,654.

Citing data as of Sunday night, PNP deputy chief for administration, Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, also reported on Monday an additional 107 new Covid-19 cases in the police force, 103 of whom are new infections while four are reinfections.

The PNP’s active Covid-19 cases have reached 1,930, out of a total of 19,639 cases.

He added that two more personnel died of the disease, bringing the PNP’s Covid-19 death toll to 55.

These include a 46-year-old male non-commissioned officer assigned at the National Capital Region Police Office who died on April 24. and a 39-year-old female non-uniformed personnel assigned at the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management who died on Sunday. (PNA)
